About Voco Speech

I built Voco Speech because I rely on AI voice generation for my own projects, but the tools I tried were expensive to keep using and usually depended on sending scripts and audio to the cloud.

Why I built it

I wanted a local solution for Mac, but most open-source models were still clunky and hard to use in a real workflow. So I spent the last few months building a native Mac app to run text to speech and voice cloning locally on Apple Silicon.

The goal was simple: make local AI voice generation feel usable as everyday software, not like a demo or a pile of scripts glued together around a model.

What I cared about

  • Keeping core text-to-speech and voice-cloning work local on Mac.
  • A workflow that feels native instead of browser-first.
  • Simple pricing instead of recurring credits and subscription pressure.
  • Fast iteration for voiceovers, demos, tutorials, and other script-heavy work.
